Thomas Kelly tried unsuccessfully to reserve three lots for his
brothers James, Patrick and Bernard, whom, he advised the
Land Agency, would be ready to board ship when he sent an
account of the fortunes awaiting them in Upper Canada.
The brothers came anyway.
The mould was in the process of being broken irrevocably.

Aidan Manning was born in Glencolumbkille, County Donegal in 1941, educated at Gortnabrade National School; St. Eunan’s College, Letterkenny; De La Salle Teachers’ Training College, Manchester; the University of Toronto; and the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, Toronto.

Aidan taught in Manchester, Liverpool, Toronto and Mississauga and is now retired. He served as a trustee on the Metropolitan Toronto Separate School Board in the 1970s.

He has written the following books: Glencolumbkille, 3000 BC – 1885 AD; Donegal Poitin – A History; Glencolumbkille, 3000 BC – 1901 AD; and Between the Runways, a History of early Irish-Catholic Settlement in Southern Peel County and Etobicoke.
